If you want to go skiing in Andalusia, head for the Sierra Nevada mountain range. There are two main resorts here: Sol y Nieve ski resort and the Sierra Nevada resort.

Sol y Nieve is the most southern ski resort in Europe. It’s not that big. In fact it’s quite small compared to most other European resorts. Having said that, the conditions are very good; the 1996 world ski championships were held here.

The Sierra Nevada resort is suitable for all types of skier. There are many runs to choose from, all with different levels of difficulty. Being so far south, the climate here is a lot warmer than most other European resorts; a pleasant surprise for any skiers new to the resort.

The nightlife here is excellent, almost surprisingly so, for a ski resort. Spaniards (who are night owls anyway) come from Madrid and other major cities in Andalusia to check out the slopes and join in the Aprés ski. Its gets very busy on bank holidays and weekends.

The resort is just 45 minuets from Granada and 2 hours from Malaga. The skiing season in Andalusia runs from December to April.
